DVD Screensaver

What it does

An icon drifts across the frame and bounces off the edges, exactly like the screensaver everyone spent the nineties waiting to see hit a corner.

It's a joke that people genuinely enjoy, and it costs nothing to add.

Where you would use it

Four-oh-four pages, coming-soon pages, easter eggs, playful portfolios.

It's decoration with a sense of humour, so put it where a moment of nothing is fine. Not behind anything anyone needs to read.

Perfect for loading screens, easter eggs, portfolio sites, or just vibes.

Controls

8 controls.

Working through the panel

The icon

By default it uses an emoji, and you can type any emoji you like straight into the Icon field.

Turn on Use Custom Icon and an image control appears instead — that's how you put your own logo in there, which is what most people actually want.

Icon Size is the size of whichever one you're using.

Motion and extras

Speed is how fast it drifts, measured per frame. Slow is the authentic setting — the original was hypnotic precisely because it took forever.

Background is the colour behind it. Trail Effect leaves a fading path as it moves.

And there's a Bounce Sound toggle. Leave it off unless the page is explicitly a toy — audio that plays without being asked for is the fastest way to make someone close a tab.

Performance and limits

• It stops rendering when it scrolls out of view, so an instance below the fold costs nothing until the visitor reaches it.

• Static rendering is handled, so canvas thumbnails and exports show a settled frame rather than a blank box.
